"Open to all, but Influenced by None"

In 2024, the government at the centre need to go: Sharad Pawar

He claimed that the central government had promised to dismiss cases brought against farmer leaders but had yet to do so.

Ankur Chatterjee: As various opposition leaders on Sunday gathered on a stage in Fatehabad, Haryana, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar stated that the time has come for everyone to work together and bring about a change of government at the Centre in 2024.

In response to the tumult over farm laws, he stated that farmers committing suicide can’t be the end, and that the real solution would be a change in government.

Farmers protested on the outskirts of the national capital, but the central government ignored their requests for way too long, Mr Pawar said at a huge event organised by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).

He claimed that the central government had promised to dismiss cases brought against farmer leaders but had yet to do so.

Among those who joined the event were Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Shiromani Akali Dal’s Sukhbir Singh Badal.

At the same public meeting, Nitish Kumar called for the unification of all non-BJP parties, including the Congress and the Left, to oppose the BJP, claiming that this “main front of opposition” will assure the defeat of the saffron party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Mr Kumar also stated that he was not running for prime minister.

“There is no such thing as a Third Front. If there is a united front that includes the Congress, we will be able to beat the BJP in 2024,” he said.
