The MVA coalition was broken by Shinde and his allies, prompting Uddhav Thackeray to resign as chief minister. With the support of 39 Sena lawmakers, Eknath Shinde formed the Maharashtra government along with the Bharatiya Janata Party. As of June 30, Shinde became chief minister and Devendra Fadnavis became deputy chief minister.
Ankur Chatterjee: Shiv Sena MLA and former minister Aaditya Thackeray challenged members who shifted sides on Thursday to resign from their assembly seats and run in fresh elections. He even argued that the Eknath Shinde-led administration was illegal, undemocratic, and is not fit to last long.
On Thursday, Thackeray, while touring Bhiwandi, Shahpur, and Igatpuri, reaffirmed that true Shiv Sainiks remain with the party led by his father, Uddhav Thackeray, but stressed that they can anytime return as the doors of Matoshree will forever remain open.

“Everything that happened in the last month was terrible and unfortunate.” Whoever we trusted and appointed to positions of power stabbed us in the back. These are not, as they claim, rebels or revolutionaries, but are indeed backstabbers. This is neither democracy nor politics. Those who deviated were never Shiv Sainiks; those who have assembled here are true Sainiks. Those who deviated simply experienced indigestion after eating too much.”
Shiv Sainiks received Aaditya at the Anandnagar Check Naka, from where he proceeded to Bhiwandi.
As per the former minister, they have done everything possible for development in the last two and a half years. “We couldn’t engage in politics. We did not annoy the Opposition by making bogus complaints against them, nor did we keep track of our MLAs’ activities since we trusted them. We were in this predicament because of our faith in the people. They are not free today. During the presidential elections, they all rode in a bus like convicts. If any of them wish to return, Matoshree’s doors are always open.”
